Re-construction of Bacolor town hall to start soon
December 4, 2010
BACOLOR— In the soonest possible time, the reconstruction of the old municipal building here, which was engulfed by volcanic debris, will start.
Mayor Jomar Hizon told CL Daily that the old building is currently being demolished to pave the way for the construction of a new building.
Spouses Angelo and Lolita Hizon, owners of Pampanga’s Best and parents of the mayor, donated P4 million for the project.
“Halos patapos na ang demolisyon ng lumang gusali at pagkatapos nito ay uumpisahan na ang pagtatayo ng bagong gusali,” the mayor said.
The first-term mayor also disclosed that he will personally supervise the construction of the new building considering that the amount to be used for the purpose is a donation from his parents and not from public funds.
He also explained that the materials that were derived from the demolition works cannot be disposed of or be sold by the municipality under existing laws.
We have to safe keep these salvaged materials,” Hizon explained.
CL Daily learned from this town’s chief executive that the new building will be constructed adjacent to the existing municipal building.
“Halos ang disenyo at laki ng itatayo nating gusali ay halintulad sa kasalukuyang municipal building,” he said.
