Yabut won’t back-out of congressional bid

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Fourth District Board Member Ricardo Yabut said over the weekend that he will not back out on his aspirations to be at the House of Representatives come 2013.
Yabut, along with Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo, professed separate intentions on their congressional bids, and will reportedly face returning Rimpy Bondoc for the lone fourth district seat.
“I am very positive about my bid. Wala ng atrasan ito. Siguro, kung meron pa akong alam na mas mabait sa akin o mas mayap ka ku (better than me) then I will reconsider. But as now of, I am setting my sights at Congress in 2013,” he said.
Colleague first district Board Member Tarcicio “Tars” Halili opined that Yabut may have the edge over his opponents because of his “personal touch.”
“Matulungin kasi siya and that would work to his advantage. BM (board member) Ric has this charisma and penchant for helping people, even if they are not from his district. And that will definitely work for him in his bid,” Halili told Sun.Star Pampanga.
During the distribution of financial assistance at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center on Friday, Yabut was branded by his constituents as a “gift from heaven.”
“Hulog po siya ng langit sa amin dahil madali siyang lapitan at nandoon siya parati,” said parents of the honor students, who swamped him in gratitude.
“Ang nangyari kasi sa buong fourth district alam ng mga tao na tumutulong ako. Nakita nila ang serbisyo ko lalo na ang pagmamahal ko sa mga mahihirap. Paglilingkod lamang naman talaga tayo,” Yabut concluded.
