Water meter thieves nabbed

ANGELES CITY — Authorities in Barangay Mining here caught two men allegedly removing a water meter in one of the houses in the said village.
Suspects Randy Manaloto and RJ Palanog, both of Purok 4 in Barangay Pulungbulo, are now detained at the Police Station 3 in Barangay Pulungbulu.
The two suspects tried to escape after they were spotted by Bantay Bayan volunteers Roberto Paraon and John Tinte, who immediately sought assistance from the Angeles City police force.
Police recovered from the suspects several stolen water meters, a motorcycle, and a variety of tools used in dismantling the said meters.
Angeles City Water District (ACWD) Director Edgar Lopez lauded the efforts of Paraon and Tinte.
Lopez lamented that the ACWD has been receiving numerous reports from subscribers about stolen water meters.
Each water meter costs almost P2,000, Lopez said.
He added the stolen water meters are then sold to some “unscrupulous traders.”
Lopez encouraged ACWD subscribers to immediately report any suspicious activities to their respective Bantay Bayan outposts or to the nearest police station.
