Water district’s contribution to Mabalacat economy cited

April 30, 2011

MABALACAT — Mayor Marino Morales has cited the Mabalacat Water District (MWD) for its socio-economic contribution to this first-class municipality, which is aspiring to become a component city of Pampanga.
Morales said MWD officials and employees are committed to provide world-class water to their concessionaires.
The mayor issued the statement during the commissioning of the water district’s new pumping station in Barangay Mabiga and the inauguration of a new sub-office at the Camachiles Resettlement Center here.
Friday’s events marked the MWD’s 33rd founding anniversary.
“We would like to thank the Mabalacat Water District for its enormous contribution to the town’s socio-economy,” he said.
Morales also mentioned the awards bestowed the MWD as outstanding water district in the country for its rapid improvement and the quality of service provided to consumers.
“The people of Mabalacat will never forget the prestige you give to the town,” Morales said.
He said the local government and water district shares the same vision, which is to provide quality services to the people.
Morales even informed the MWD employees about the town’s impending cityhood.
According to him, Congressman Carmelo Lazatin made an assurance that the town will be converted into a city this year.
The mayor said there will be an efficient delivery of social services once the town becomes a city.
“The local government is responsive to the people’s needs. The programs for the people, particularly the less fortunate ones, are in place,” Morales said.
He stressed education as one of his administration’s thrusts.
“Education is the key to a better life. It is necessary to development,” Morales added.
MWD general manager Francis Dimaliwat thanked the National Housing Authority and the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council for donating the property in the resettlement center to the water district for the sub-office.
According to Dimaliwat, the MWD spent around P6 million for the new pump station at Casmor Subdivision in Barangay Mabiga and another P1.5 million for the Camachiles sub-office.
