Tourism department exec lauds park’s project for kids

CLARK FREEPORT – Department of Tourism (DOT) Central Luzon director Ronnie Tiotuico has lauded the Fontana Hot Spring Leisure Parks in Clark for implementing programs for children with disabilities.
Tiotuico said the firm will join corporate giants in the travel and tourism industry that shares joy and charity to children with special needs (CSN) who are in dire need of special attention in society.
Tiotuico, who is advocating for better quality of life for children with disabilities, is motivating other individuals and entities to follow and implement similar projects.
On September 26, some 200 physically- and mentally-challenged schools at the Department of Education Special Education (Sped) Center in Pulung Bulu, Angeles City, will proceed to Fontana Waterpark to feel and enjoy the myriad of recreational activities inside the world-class water theme park.
Jack Lam, president and chief operating officer of Fontana, is expected to come and welcome the children. Lam will be assisted by his senior marketing manager, Simple Roxas.
Agnes Manabat, principal of Pulung Bulu elementary school, said, “This will be the first time these children will experience the thrill of playing in Fontana’s world-class wave pool, which electronically produces various types of waves simulating Boracay’s undulating current, plus their so-called giant aqua thrill slides.”
Other equally exciting facilities inside the water park include Water Factory, Pirate Ship, Olympic-size pool, Hot Spring and Lagoon Pool in the upper water park.
Roxas said they are excited to accommodate the children at the water park.
She said it is part of their corporate mission to share their facilities and amenities to those who have less in life.
She said the park will be open exclusively for the children, parents or guardians and teachers for the whole day. They will be provided full-service amenities, including housekeepers and lifeguards.
A society of photographers led by Roy Van Morales, together with famous photographer John K. Cura, was invited to be part of the special mission.
The photographers are expected to take photos of the event and mount a photo exhibit in one of the malls in Pampanga for the purpose of spreading awareness on the plight of special children.
May Delfin, a Sped teacher, said that children with special needs are most welcome to enroll in their free schooling in Pulung Bulu.
Backed up by a pool of well-trained teachers, the school has been awarded by the education department for its innovative effort in providing the right education for special children.
The school was awarded the most effective Sped center in Luzon in 2002 and 2009. They were chosen as the pilot school for PASBE-Phils Accreditation System for basic education in Central Luzon on account of their having a school for special education.
