Thousands to participate ‘Pampanga Run’ in Clark

CLARK FREEPORT — Members of the Angeles City Volunteers for P-Noy said they are expecting thousands of participants in their fun run slated on February 27 (Sunday) at the Clark parade grounds.
Manny So, head of the Angeles City Volunteers for P-Noy, said runners from Baguio, Laoag, Tarlac, Bulacan, Zambales, and Pampanga have signified their intention to participate in the event dubbed “The Pampanga Freedom Run: A People-Powered Run To Build Classrooms.”
The fun run for a cause, which has three categories (2.5-kilometer, 5 kilometer, and 10-kilometer), starts at 5:30 a.m. and ends at 8:30 a.m.
The fun run would be done simultaneously around the country to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Edsa people power revolt “where we showed the world that together nothing is impossible,” So said.
“As the lead group here in Pampanga, we would like to knock at the generosity of our fellow Kapampangans to follow the call of our beloved president ‘sa daang matuwid’ and help our government in building and making the dreams of our children a reality,” So said.
He said proceeds of the affair will go to the Ninoy and Cory Aquino Foundation for its donation to the 25,000 school building projects of the Department of Education (DepEd).
So also said that one school building was allotted to each of Pampanga’s three school divisions, adding the first school building will be constructed in Barangay Baliti, City of San Fernando.
He said it is important that private sector supports the government in its “worthwhile” projects.
Through the Central Luzon Association of Regional Offices (Claro), So said they also invited religious organizations, civic groups, military and police personnel, and others to join in the fun run.
Run kits (like shirt and bib number) will be provided to each registered paid participant. Cash and gift prizes await the winners.
Registration is pegged at P300 per runner for the 2.5K and 5K levels and P350 for the 10K leg of the run.
Pre-registration is still being entertained at the Angeles and City of San Fernando branches of Orchids Bookstore.
So said there will be registration until 4:45 a.m. only on Sundays.
Registration forms are also available at the Brightwoods School business office and Don Bosco Academy Pampanga.
