Suspect in minor’s rape-slay arrested

FLORIDABLANCA — Police arrested the suspect in the rape and slaying of a six-year-old girl from this town.
Senior Superintendent Edgar Tinio, Pampanga police provincial director, identified the suspect as Jayson Dabu, 29, a member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu).
Tinio said Dabu was arrested by local police after a witness identified him as the last person seen in the company of the victim, identified only as “Len” (not her real name).
The witness said the suspect took the victim in a “perya” (carnival) on Sunday night. The girl’s parents seek help from the police after she failed to come home that day.
Around 3:30 p.m. the following day, the victim’s body was seen at Sitio Timber in Barangay Pabanlag, this town.
Police said the victim had stabbed wounds in the body and was reportedly raped before being killed by the suspect.
The suspect is now detained at the Floridablanca police. (Ric Sapnu)
