Sugar mill firm turns over new building to Porac school

PORAC — Sweet Crystals Integrated Sugar Mill Corporation turned over Monday a brand new two-storey and four-classroom building to officials of Planas High School and Department of Education, along with Municipal Government leaders.
The new building is part of the pledge of Sweet Crystals executives and employees led by Patricia Escaler, who also turned over two school buildings with two classrooms each about the same time last year.
The buildings were all built by the sugar mill’s employees, “bayanihan” style.
Escaler told Sun.Star Pampanga that the new building will house third year high school students. Planas High School has 196 students and six teachers.
“We all have a role to play in nation building and Sweet Crystals is focused on education. No matter your position or stature in life is, we must all work together to make lives for Filipinos. We are hoping that next year, we could build another one for fourth year high school students. Sweet Crystals will continue partnering with the government in nation building,” said Escaler, adding the ceremony was made more significant as it was Our Lady’s Assumption Day.
Mayor Condralito Dela Cruz thanked Sweet Crystals for its support to the Municipal Government.
He said that in return, the Municipal Government will give priority to the improvement of roads leading to the sugar mill based on its annual investment plan.
While similarly thanking Sweet Crystals, Vice Mayor Dexter David, meanwhile, challenged students of the public high school to study well.
“The Municipal Government has limited resources; that is why we thank Sweet Crystals for their assistance. To our students here, study well para hindi masayang ang classrooms na bigay ng Sweet Crystals,” he said.
David, in his personal capacity, revealed he has some 20 scholars studying in the school.
Sugar cane planters groups, like Porac Planters, Del Carmen Planters and PCMA Planters also extended their gratitude to Sweet Crystals for making them a part of the partnership.
