South African envoy impressed with Clark

CLARK FREEPORT — The “multi-dimensional” developments being undertaken by Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has impressed Republic of South Africa ambassador to the Philippines Agnes Nyamande-Pitso.
Pitso, who visited Clark for the second time on Thursday, was accompanied by officials of Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ), an economic and deep-sea Freeport Zone based in South Africa, led by its Chief Executive Officer Ike Nxedlana.
CDC president Felipe Antonio B. Remollo met with Pitso and Nxedlana. The two officials discussed how the two zones could complement business activities.
During the meeting, CDC vice president for Business Development Group Ernesto Gorospe delivered a briefing on the thrusts of the CDC to generate more investments and employment opportunities complementing the economic agenda of President Benigno Aquino III.
Gorospe informed Pitso and RBIDZ executives that Clark’s multi-dimensional developments include airport expansion, infrastructure projects, leisure, entertainment and tourism programs, and improvement of vital utilities here.
Nxedlana said they hope to learn from the development of the Clark Freeport Zone into a bustling economic center and business destination despite the devastation wrought by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991 and the subsequent pullout of the US troops at the former Clark Air Base.
Nxedlana has an excellent track record on successfully implementing both Public Finance Management Act and the Municipal Finance Management Act at the Department of Public Enterprises.
Other RBIDZ officials who accompanied Pitso were Chief Financial Officer Mohlomi Nkopane, CEO office Executive Manager Zanele Zeka, Legal Manager/Company Secretary Keith Harvey, and Deputy Head Mission of RSA Embassy in Manila Counselor Hugo Lambrechts.
