Solon to teach Pampanga waste-to- fertilizer technique
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO–Former Las Piñas Rep. Cynthia Villar yesterday said she will introduce to Kapampangans a waste-to-fertilizer system, the product of which can be beneficial to farmers here.
During her visit to Floridablanca, Villar, along with Governor Lilia Pineda and other local officials, reiterated the importance of waste segregation like the conversion of biodegradable waste to organic fertilizer which local farmers can utilize for their crops.
Villar said every month her district is able to generate at least 30,000 kilos of fertilizer thru their biodegradable wastes. She added that farmers in their district make their own fertilizer.
The lady solon furthered that she, along with the local officials in Las Piñas, implemented the waste to fertilizer system to help the community in preventing pollution and flooding as well.
Villar said that even used papers are converted to stationery and envelopes.
“Napakamahal ng tipping fee doon sa amin sa pagtapon ng basura kaya hinikayat ko ang mga ka-distrito ko na mag-waste segregation na siya naman naming napapakinabangan ngayon,” she stressed.
Earlier, Villar offered to launch in Pampanga the blanket weaving industry which is seen to benefit some 16,000 Aetas based in the province.
Pineda said she will tap the Aetas for the livelihood project, expressing optimism that once the project starts, hard work will develop among her constituents.
“They work near their houses and get home early minus the transportation cost. Their earnings will be maximized,” Pineda said in earlier interviews. ●Marna Dagumboy-del Rosario
