Shabu peddler falls in dragnet

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) eliminated another drug merchant in the province with the arrest of Jimmy Lawangen Subang in Buguias town last June 27.
Subang is included in the target list of the agency and was finally caught along the highway at Nakiangan in Abatan during a buy-bust operation.

Subang sold a sachet of shabu to an undercover PDEA agent and was found to have possessed more of the illegal drug.
Drug agents confiscated two sachets of shabu, weighing 18 grams with a street value of P2,000.
The operation earned a commendation from Undersecretary Jose Gutierrez Jr., PDEA director general.
PDEA said that even Subang’s wife and son also peddle shabu.
Subang’s place of residence, Abatan, has long been listed as a drug-affected barangay.
In Buguias town, both public and private secondary and elementary schools all had first-hand anti-drug talks from the PDEA-Cordillera speakers’ bureau.
The agency said Subang’s arrest is just one substantial offshoot of the afore-said stimulating information, education and communication campaign to the constituents of the municipality for the prevention and control of drug abuse.
At the start of the year, a woman drug pusher, who had been covering up as vegetable vendor, was sentenced to life imprisonment for selling and possessing shabu at Bayabas, La Trinidad, where she sells the drug at the vegetable depot.
