BACOLOR — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will be hosting the Nutrition Information and Communication Network (NUTRICOMNET) at the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University on November 10.
The forum is being spearheaded by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI) in collaboration with the DOST.
The event will focus on the importance of increasing awareness and understanding among stakeholders on food safety issues.
As part of the program, FNRI will be providing information on basic nutrition, healthy lifestyle and success stories of FNRI technology adaptors.
After the forum, the NUTRICOMNET will convene for an organizational meeting to discuss the on-going activities of the network concerning food and nutrition issues.
NUTRICOMNET is a network of provincial and regional media practitioners and information officers of various agencies and institutions involved in food, nutrition and health promotion.
It aims to jointly establish, maintain and sustain a mutually-beneficial interactive communication system for promotion of food and nutrition research information and technologies through the media among its members in all regions of the country.
Another objective is to help increase the level of awareness and knowledge among stakeholders on practical food and nutrition technologies in the regions and provinces and to establish a valuable partner and conduit in helping improve the nutrition status and socio-economic well-being in the regions and provinces through the media.
Each member of the NUTRICOMNET has important roles to play. The FNRI serves as the overall coordinator and the major source of information materials, while the DOST regional and provincial offices serve as the local coordinator and focal point.
