Sapnu: Velasco, Nanalo sa LEAD PNP

ANNUALLY ay isinasagawa ang LEAD PNP Award na kung saan pinipili ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang isang “best” Chief of Police sa buong bansa.
Inilunsad ang LEAD PNP bilang Integrated Transformation Program na ipinatutupad ng National Police Headquarters sa Camp Crame.
Bawat Police Regional Office ay nagsagawa ng kani-kanilang pagpili na magiging representante ng mga ito.
Isinagawa ng Police Regional Office-3 (PRO3) ang pagpili sa mga Chief of Police (COP) ng Central Luzon noong Abril.
Ang Regional Operations and Plan Division ang nagsagawa ng paghahanap ng “best” COP na maaaring ilaban sa nasyonal level.
Kaya ang nangyari ay limang COP lamang ang nagsumite ng kanilang mga dokumento na nagpapatunay na sila’y karapat-dapat na maging kandidato sa LEAD PNP.
Upang mapadali ang proseso, isang screening committee na binubuo ng mga deputy police ng bawat tanggapan sa PRO3 ay isa-isang nirepaso ang limang COP.
Kaya tatlo na lamang ang natira: Sina Superintendent Rommel Velasco, hepe ng Mariveles Police; Chief Inspector Luisito Tan, hepe ng Station 4 ng Angeles City; at Chief Inspector Rhyan David, hepe ng Porac.
At noong Abril 26, isinalang ang tatlong COP sa miyembro ng Regional Selection Committee ng LEAD PNP Award na kung saan si Senior Superintendent Valiant de Guzman, deputy regional director for administration ang Chairman.
Ang miyembro ng Regional Selection Committee ay sina Monsignor Eugenio Mercado bilang representante ng Religious Sector; Engineer Teodoro Paras, head ng Commission on Higher Education bilang representante ng Education Sector; Jim Jiminez, presidente ng Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PamCham) bilang representante ng non-government organizations (NGOs); at ang Inyong Lingkod, bilang representante Media sector.
Sa isinagawang interview sa mga tatlong kandidato sa LEAD PNP noong Abril 26 sa Conference Room sa PRO3, unang isinalang si Velasco, pangalawa si David at huli si Tan.
Pagkatapos sa isinagawang interview ng mga miyembro ng Regional Selection Committee sa tatlong COP at maging ang Chairman na si De Guzman ay doon na kami nagbotohan kung sino ang nararapat na “winner.”
Dahil sa mga magagandang “accomplishment at pamamahala sa kanyang mga tauhan at pakikitungo sa iba’t ibang sector sa kanyang nasasakupan na bayan, si Supt. Velasco ang napili ng committee upang ilaban sa National Level.
Si Tan naman ang pangalawa at si David ang pangatlo.
Sang-ayon kay De Guzman, lahat ng tatlong COP ay magaganda ang “accomplishments” kaya lang kailangang mamili ng “the Best.”
Sa iyo, Supt. Velasco congratulations! Sana paghandaan mong mabuti ang iyong pakikitunggali sa National Level sa “LEAD PNP Award: The Mentor Leader” na kung saan marami kang makakalaban.
Noong 2009, LEAD PNP si Superintendent Homer Penecilla bilang hepe noon ng Apalit Police. Lima ang naging kandidato na COP noon.
