Revilla to authorities: Bring Ramona back

MANILA (Updated) — Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. is now appealing to authorities and to the mother of his half-sister, Maria Ramona Bautista, to send her back to the country after she left for Hong Kong Friday night.
Revilla considered the decision of Ramona, who was charged for the murder of their brother, Ramgen “Ram” Revilla, to leave the country amid investigation into the killing as a “sign of guilt.”
“We are shocked… Talagang nakakapanginig ng laman… This is a sign of guilt,” he said in a television interview Friday evening.
The senator, Ramona and Ramgen are all children of former senator Ramon Revilla Sr., whose real name is Jose Acuña Bautista. His children use the surname Revilla when they enter the entertainment industry or politics.
In a press conference Saturday night, the senator appealed to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to exert efforts to bring Ramona back.
He also appealed to Ramona’s mother, Genelyn Magsaysay, for Ramona to be back in the country.
“In the first place, dapat hindi sya umalis… Kailangan hinarap nya itong problema na ito (She should not have left… She should have faced this problem),” he said.
He warned his sister that they will condemn her if it is confirmed that she escaped responsibility for the killing of their brother.
“Hindi namin sya mapapatawad dahil ang namatay rito ay kapatid namin.. Kahit kapatid namin sya, dapat nyang panagutan ito… Bakit sya tatakbo in the first place kung talagang wala syang kasalanan (We cannot forgive her because the one who died here is our brother… Even if she is our sister she will have to answer for everything… Why did she leave in the first place if she is indeed innocent),” the senator said.
He also revealed that Magsaysay got angry with him after he turned over their other brother, Ramon Joseph Bautista, to police a day after the killing.
The Parañaque Police charged Ramon Joseph, Ramona, and five others with murder for the death of Ram and frustrated murder for the failed killing of Janelle Manahan, Ram’s girlfriend. Ramon Joseph has been tagged as the mastermind.

Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said authorities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport are looking into the identity of the person who escorted Ramona before leaving for Hong Kong Friday night.
Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Jose Honrado instructed airport personnel to identify whether it was an airport employee who was seen on closed-circuit television accompanying Ramona inside the airport, Lacierda said.
“From immigration all the way to the gate, Ms. Bautista was alone. General Honrado has directed his personnel to determine who escorted her (Ramona). If it was a NAIA personnel, he would have been able to enter the restricted area so probably this was not an employee of NAIA,” he said.
Airport authorities confirmed that Ramona boarded Cathay Pacific’s Boeing 747 plane, which left at 7:55 p.m. for Hong Kong. The plane arrived in Hong Kong at 10:45 p.m.
Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said authorities allowed Ramona to leave the country since no hold departure order was issued against her.
David said the bureau’s hands were tied when it allowed one of the murder suspects to left the country.
“Pending the issuance of a hold departure order or a watch list order, we have no authority to prevent her from leaving the country,” he said.
Under current rules, a respondent/suspect in a criminal case can only be prevented from leaving the country by a hold departure order or a watchlist issued by the courts or by the Department of Justice.
Parañaque police chief Billy Beltran said they will check with the prosecutor what move they could take against Ramona.
Turkey
Meanwhile, BI spokesperson Maria Antonette Bucasas-Mangrobang said that Ramona’s address abroad was listed as Istanbul, Turkey, based on her departure card.
“She also indicated that she is a resident at ang naka-indicate purpose of travel: resident,” she said.
Records from the airport immigration office showed that Bautista had no return ticket and her final destination based on flight itinerary is Turkey.
Senator Revilla confirmed that Ramona got married to a Turkish man when she was 19 years old.
My conscience is clear
Ramona earlier denied involvement in the killing of Ram on October 28 in his house in BF Homes in Parañaque City. Ram’s girlfriend, Janelle Manahan, was also shot but survived.
“My conscience is clear,” Ramona said.
She also earlier retracted a statement that she was kidnapped and abandoned in Las Piñas City on the night Ram was killed.
Manahan earlier told police that Ramona was an accomplice in the killing.
However, Ramona said she could not have been a suspect in Ram’s killing, saying he even protected her during the attack.
She said she was already inside Ram’s room talking to him and Manahan when the armed man came in. She said Ram protected her from the armed man, reason why she was not hurt.
