Revenue bureau nets P2.7B collection for January, March

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here Monday reported that it has collected P2.7 billion from January to March, maintaining the regional revenue agency’s goal for the first quarter of the year.
BIR regional director Romulo Aguila Jr. told Sun.Star Pampanga that the collection was brought about by the vibrant growth of local industries in Central Luzon. The BIR here, he said, had noted a 20 percent growth in the local industries here compared to 2010.
“The good collection system and our renewed efforts to run after tax evaders have been paying off well,” Aguila said, even as he called on Kapampangans to help the BIR in its tax collection by demanding for their receipts in various services and products they avail from private and government institutions.
Aguila said the BIR is undertaking many ongoing tax collection programs through various programs, one of which is the Premyo sa Resibo Program. The program gives consumers a chance to win cash prizes by texting their receipt details to the BIR.
Aguila said joining is easy, by texting the details of the receipt: PSR (space) TIN of OR (space) OR Number (space) OR Amount, and send to 9777 for single entry and to 9778 for multiple entries, at P2.50 per entry.
For multiple entries, the participant is entitled to one entry for every P100 reflected in their OR and amount will be rounded out to the next hundred for fair play (For example P230 OR amount – entitles a participant to three entries).
Winners will get a congratulatory text from 9778 and a confirmation call from PhilWeb.
