Quota Pampanga holds free bone scanning for AC women

ANGELES CITY — Some 100 women from this city benefited in the free bone scanning program sponsored by Quota International of Pampanga at the Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School here on Monday.
The free bone scanning is part of the group’s line-up of events in celebration of the National Women’s Month. The event was made possible through the help of Anlene Bone Health Check Centre and Barangay Tabun chairman Alma Mercado.
Quota International of Pampanga president Myra Manabat said the event aims to provide the women with free bone scanning to get an accurate picture of the status of their bone health.
“This will give these women ample time to undertake rehabilitative steps to prevent the decline of their bone health,” Manabat said.
She also said the bone scanning is a good step in identifying early signs of osteoporosis, a medical condition where bones become brittle and fragile and at a high risk of becoming fractured.
According to Manabat, Calcium plays an important part in keeping the bones strong and healthy. When calcium is depleted from the body or at low level, bones become brittle and fragile, thus leading to osteoporosis. Women are more prone to osteoporosis than men.
The health care representatives from Anlene informed the beneficiaries that during a woman’s monthly period, calcium is depleted too from the body.
The event also featured informative discussion on proper bone health and the importance of proper diet and exercise in the well-being of women.
