Quota Pampanga cultural number hailed champion in Davao confab

DAVAO CITY — Quota International of Pampanga was adjudged as overall champion in the Quota International District Conference held at The Apo View Hotel in Davao City over the weekend.
According to third District Board Member Monina Laus, a member and founding officer of the club, Quota International of Pampanga bested other Quota Clubs from all over the country with their cultural dance interpretative of the folk song “Atin Kupung Singsing” at “Mekeni Pampanga”.
The presentation competition is part of Quota International District Conference highlights held each year.
Laus said Quota Pampanga was able to highlight Pampanga’s cultural identity and heritage in their recent performance in the district conference.
The district conference is an annual event where Quota clubs from all over the country share best practices in socio-civic service to the poor and less fortunate women and children in the community.
The district conference features talks on women’s rights, local initiatives of government support for women and children and other pertinent issues on gender, women empowerment and protection of the rights of children.
Laus said Quota Pampanga members will cascade whatever they learned the weekend conference to their regular programs and projects in Pampanga.
“We are happy that we were able to show our local heritage through our performance that was received with much applause,” Laus said.
Quota International of Pampanga president Myra Manabat said their group would like to thank their families and friends and Governor Lilia Pineda, a Quotarian herself, for the support she extended to the organization.
The group is expected to be back in Pampanga this week to pay a courtesy visit to local officials here who supported the organization. The group also won the best designed costume in the said competition.
