Project management office to assist Aetas

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The creation of a project management office (PMO) in Nabuclod, Floridablanca is expected to develop agricultural and tourism programs for Aetas living in Camachile and Mawacat, which covers some 1,000 hectares of ancestral lands.
Governor Lilia Pineda created the PMO after listening to the concerns of tribe leaders at the Benigno Aquino Hall recently.
Pineda, together with Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Office head Bert Gatus and Provincial Social Welfare Development officials, evaluated the concerns of the indigenous people particularly on agriculture, livelihood and tourism.
“We need to fast-track these programs since they have been long delayed. The creation of a PMO headed by Board Member Nestor Tolentino will definitely boost the program,” Pineda told Sun.Star Pampanga.
Tolentino, who chairs the project and spearheads the technical working group, said three Aetas will be employed as PMO staff.
Tolentino’s resolution was approved by the Provincial Board on Tuesday.
“Ang isa pang maganda sa workshop ay iyung lahat ng IP leaders ay pumirma doon sa zip-line project at nangako sila na hindi nila ito guguluhin. Tayo naman sa Kapitolyo ay tuloy-tuloy lang ang suporsta sa mga kapatid nating Aeta,” Pineda said.
