Pangan: Nanaybaby and Oca with one thing in common

Monday, June 6, 2011
ONE thing is common between Governor Lilia “Nanaybaby” Pineda and City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Rodriguez of San Fernando. Both are do-gooders in the strict sense of the word. They do the greatest good for the greatest number of people under all circumstances in serving the government. And they serve not to crave for importance but to evidence that doing what is good to others makes life worth the living with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ – the Great Do-gooder.
To promote the public good disinterestedly is the ruling passion of the nationally known governor and world class city mayor. It makes them feel great to lend a hand as the need arises. After having done a good turn, they inconspicuously emote in the manner of one walking 10 feet tall. For goodness sake, they treat everybody equally fair and square.
There is no respect of person. No favoritism. No nothing but to govern in their own style of following the rule of a good executive.
On one hand, Governor Nanaybaby Pineda delegates the power and responsibility to her heads of office even as she executes every ordinance according to the letter and its spirit. Mother Dear Nanaybaby allows them to enjoy the privilege of making a decision on their own while at the same time she warns everybody not to be drunk with power.
Her full trust and confidence on the capitol employees inspires them to work hard for achievement that trickles down to the benefit of the masses.
As yet, the affable governor takes pride on her continuing fruitful effort to unite the provincial board members, mayors, councilors, barangay chairmen, barangay council men, and barangay tanods. She is rolling them up to be one in the bond of love by redressing every grievance and giving in to every lawful and expedient demand. There is
no denying the fact that never for a moment did she cease from assisting them liberally.
Now therefore, there is no one with an axe to grind against her.
Unlike in the previous provincial administration, the parochial legislators are taking a slice of the intelligence cake and the mayors are getting their increased monthly quarry income on time. The governor sees to it that the remittance of shares to the towns and barangays suffers no delay. Indeed, she leaves no stone unturned in ruling the roost on Health, Education, Employment, Livelihood, Waste Management, Food Production, Tourism, Sports, Youth Development, and Environment Protection.
On the other hand, League of Cities of the Philippines President and City Mayor Oca Rodriguez reigns supreme in good governance by holding sway over the city with the participation of the private sector. There is the Multi-Sectoral Governance Council (MSGC) whose sterling performance promises well for the realization of the Great
Fernandino Dream –Habitat of Excellence. The MSGC is composed of government officials and non-government organizations who volunteered to be a member of a motley patriotic group that goes with the current of an idea whose time has come.
Small wonder, the prudent city mayor plumes his self on having formed the Governance Council to be a part of Team Magsilbi Tamu (TMT), a joint undertaking which had become known for its job well done. The TMT oversees every aspect of governance much to the pleasure of the residents from all walks of life. Where there is an error, it
rectifies. Where there is loss, it recovers. Where there is a need, it meets. Where there is disobedience, it disciplines. Where there is performance, it acknowledges. Where there is merit, it awards. And where there is criticism, it ignores.
Under the Rodriguez Administration, the lahar-devastated capital town-turned-component city rises to worldwide fame like the phoenix from it ashes. It keeps on turning and turning a darkened past into a bright future. There is no telling how far the evolving will go. Nevertheless, Mayor Oca takes everything in his stride to lead the Fernandinos through the Matuwid na Daan towards an Edenic Horizon, the same place to where Governor Nanaybaby is leading her province mates as well.
