Pampanga town ready for realty, industry boom
March 11, 2011
PORAC — Vice Mayor Dexter David said the Porac Manpower Training Center will provide skills training in line with construction and industry-related programs to anticipate the realty business’ boom.
This came in answer to second district Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s call to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and local officials here to ready the necessary manpower, as major land developers in Metro Manila are now eyeing the lands along the vital routes of this town for possible development.
Arroyo, in her speech before the graduates of the Tesda program on Friday, said Ayala Corporation is one of the land developers that have expressed keen interest in the development here.
Local officials, along with David, said the lands along the Subic Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) section that traverses this town have been opened to the otherwise inevitable development.
Also, the SCTEx Exit Gate in the town has also opened thousands of hectares of land to future development.
“We have been talking to officials of Tesda and the Porac Manpower Training Center to address the need to provide more skills training for jobs that are closely related to construction and other support industries,” David said.
He added the Porac Municipal Council has been working on a land-use plan that will effectively prepare the town for the industry boom in the next 20 years.
David, however, said the development in realty and other industries will take time to fully set root in the town.
“However, we may see striking changes in the coming months in terms of local investment. In fact, land value in areas near vital access routes have been soaring in the past months,” David said.
David also thanked Arroyo for the development works in Porac, saying the town is now more accessible with the existence of the Dike Road that connects Bacolor and Porac, as well as the improved roads connecting the town with Angeles City and the Bataan Peninsula. (Ian Ocampo Flora)
