Pacquiao withdraws suit vs. Golden Boy

MANNY Pacquiao on Tuesday announced that he will no longer sue Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) chief executive officer Richard Schaefer and president Oscar De La Hoya after the latter issued a public apology.
Daniel Petrocelli, Pacquiao’s attorney, told website ESPN.com that Pacquiao had decided to withdraw the lawsuit after both parties agreed to settle the dispute privately.
“It’s all by agreement of the parties that the terms remain confidential,” he said.
“Manny is satisfied with the terms of the settlement and the statement Golden Boy issued, and he agreed to the settlement,” Petrocelli added.
In December 2009, Pacquiao filed a suit in a U.S. District Court in Nevada against GBP with Floyd Mayweather Jr., Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Roger Mayweather for making false and defamatory statements accusing him of taking performance-enhancing drugs.
Petrocelli said that the suit against Schaefer and De La Hoya was dropped, but Pacquiao’s suit against the Mayweathers still stands.
