Officials lead graduation of 60 volunteers

PORAC — Mayor Condralito Dela Cruz and Vice Mayor Dexter Albert David led Wednesday the graduation of the second batch of volunteers who underwent a three-day live-in seminar on strengthening community values and campaign against drug use.
Dela Cruz and David were joined by Porac Municipal Police Station chief Neil Oligario Miro and provincial police director Edgardo Tinio during the culmination rights held at the Jose Songco Lapid Sports Gym in Barangay Cangatba here.
The event was attended by families of the participants who came from different barangays of the province. The live-in seminar is a crash course on strengthening family and community values.
The seminar also promotes camaraderie and a sense of responsibility and accountability among the participants. Seminar facilitators also gave the youth participants available details and know-how on combating drugs in their communities.
Dubbed as “Kayanakan Ning Balen at Ehemplu Laban Keng Droga” (Kayabe), the seminar was implemented in cooperation with the Pampanga Police Office and the Municipal Government early mid-quarter of this year.
Police chief Miro told Sun.Star Pampanga that the Kayabe graduates will serve as the initial core groups for the youth in their respective barangays in facilitating various programs of the police that involve the participation of the youth in the community.
“These youths will help us in facilitating our peace and order programs with the youth sector,” Miro said.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor David said the program was implemented as a partnership program with the Mayor’s Office. He said the program also aims to provide a wholesome social venue among the youth of Porac town.
“This program could also serve as a pilot program to prove that youth programs on anti-drugs and social values do really work in the town level. Our officials only need to be serious about the task,” David said.
David added that Mayor Dela Cruz has been very optimistic and supportive of the program since its initial inception.
Mayor Dela Cruz, for his part, said he ordered the cascading of the program to other youth volunteers in Porac town and organize chapters in respective barangays of the town.
