New Angeles police chief installed

April 29, 2011
ANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan led Thursday the installation of a new police director for the city.
Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono assumed the city police director post and replaced Senior Superintendent Melchor Reyes during Thursday’s turnover ceremony at Camp Tomas Pepito in Barangay Santo Domingo here.
Pamintuan expressed confidence that the newly installed city police director will address the peace and order situation in the city.
“You must ensure the security and safety of our citizens as well as instill order in traffic and other aspects of your duties,” Pamintuan told Recomono.
Pamintuan sternly warned all police officers against engaging in extortion activities, stressing that he has a one-strike policy against abuses and acts of graft and corruption.
The mayor urged the public to support the programs of the new city police director.
“I hope for a faster resolution of crimes now,” he said.
Pamintuan told police officers that the City Government will extend all necessary resources and logistics, including the improvement of police stations.
Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting welcomed Recomono, saying his appointment as the new police director came at the right time when the present administration is very much supportive of the programs of the local police force.
She also acknowledged Reyes for his contributions to the maintenance of peace and order in the city during his three-month stint as chief of the city police.
In his acceptance speech, Recomono vowed to establish quicker response to complaints of the people, put welfare of the people in utmost priority and increase the visibility of police officers.
Prior to his new assignment in this city, Recomono worked at the directorate for operations in the Philippine National Police (PNP) general headquarters in Camp Crame.
After the turn-over ceremony, Recomono immediately conducted conference with all unit commanders.
“Our police stations shall be the frontline forces in accomplishing the PNPs mission of enforcing the law, preventing and control crimes, maintaining peace and order, and ensuring public safety in their respective areas of responsibility,” Recomono said.
Recomono also encouraged the public to take an active part in supporting the police. He even made an assurance that his office will get rid of misfits and undesirable members of the police force in the city.
