Murder suspects arrested
June 28, 2011
THREE murder suspects, including an ex-policeman in Sultan Kudarat who is among those accused in the Maguindanao massacre, were arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Mindanao over the weekend.
The arrests have been part of the group’s moves against the most wanted persons in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (Armm) and the Caraga, which is composed of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur and Dinagat Islands.
Among those apprehended by authorities are Vicente Pille alias Itik, 49, of Aranda Zone B, Poblacion, Suralla, South Cotabato and is listed as the 10th most wanted person in the Armm; former Police Officer 1 Ahmad Camsa Badal, alias Dukoy Badal, 26, of Kalawag 2, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat and one of the 195 suspects in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre; and Victor Pagaspas, 31, of Barangay Baan, Kilometer 4, Butuan City and ranked 15th in the list of most wanted persons in Caraga.
Pille was arrested at Sitio Rampang, Barangay Centralia Surullah, South Cotabato, by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Roberto Ayco of Regional Trial Court Branch 26 of the 11th Judicial Region in South Cotabato, said CIDG Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr.
Pille was the primary suspect in the November 15, 2005 shooting incident in Sitio Sto. Nino in South Cotabato that resulted in the death of Herson Santuele, 22 years old.
Meanwhile, Badal was arrested around 9:45 a.m. of June 25 by joint elements of Isulan Municipal Office and Sultan Kudarat Criminal Investigation and Detection Team led by Police Senior Inspector Jose Teody Condesa.
Badal is wanted for 56 counts of murder for the Maguindanao massacre by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Judge Jocelyn A. Solis-Reyes, Judge RTC National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 221, Quezon City.
Badal’s arrest brought the number of total arrested suspects in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre to 93, with 102 suspects still at large.
On Sunday, June 26, Pagaspas was arrested around 9:30 a.m. in Barangay Tampocon 1, Ayungon, Negros Oriental, by virtue of warrant of arrest issued by Judge Eduardo Casals of RTC, Branch 1, 10TH Judicial Region in Butuan City.
