Meds database installed in Pampanga hospitals

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — At least nine computers with capabilities of tracking down availability of medicines have recently been installed in public hospitals in Pampanga.
The computers were recently installed at the Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Medical Center in Sta. Rita, Andres G. Luciano Memorial Hospital (formerly Balitucan District Hospital) in Magalang, Romana Pangan District Hospital in Floridablanca and the district hospitals of Mabalacat, Macabebe, San Luis and Arayat, among others.
Governor Lilia Pineda ordered the installation of the computers to ensure the availability of medicines in public hospitals.
“One of major problems in our hospitals is the lack of medicines. We wish to address that by providing computers installed with a database that would report medicine stocks,” Pineda said in the dialect.
The database would conduct daily and monthly inventory of medical supplies, Pineda said.
“This way, we would know as early as one month ahead which hospital needs more medical supplies,” Pineda said.
Medical supplies, which are sold at cheap prices, are provided by the Provincial Government.
Pineda said cheap medicines in district hospitals would also avoid the public from buying medicines at private pharmacies.
Pharmacies outside district hospitals usually sell medicines at higher prices.
