Mayor orders monitoring of fever cases

CANDABA — The Municipal Health Office (MHO) recently recorded 435 fever cases after conducting a 24-hour monitoring for several days in all 33 barangays of this town.
Mayor Jerry Pelayo ordered MHO officials to closely monitor residents showing signs of dengue fever.

The mayor asked Dr. Anita Pangan, MHO chief, to augment the barangay health workers (BHW) in various health centers to provide appropriate medical assistance to the residents.
“Ang gusto ni Mayor Jerry basta nilagnat, ituring ng dengue agad,” Leny Manalo, Pelayo’s chief of staff, said.
The MHO chief noted in her daily monitoring report submitted to Pelayo that out 435 fever cases, 101 of which came from Barangay Bahay Pare, followed by 42 fever cases in Paralaya and 39 in Barangay Paligue.
As this developed, Pelayo, together with some MHO and barangay officials, inspected a small river in Bahay Pare believing this probably serves as breeding site for mosquito dengue carrier.
Based on the records of the MHO, as of last Tuesday, there are at least 13 confirmed dengue cases in town. Most of them are being treated at Jose B. Lingad (JBL) Memorial Regional Hospital while some are currently confined at San Luis District Hospital.
Those dengue patients who were confined in JBL were Jennalyn Paular, 17, a resident of Barangay Bambang; Darwin Salas, 23, a resident of Barangay Barit; Angela Marie Guevarra, 10, from Gulap; Vicente Samson, 12, a resident of Pasig; John Culala, 11, of Barangay Pasig; Jordan David, 11, Paligue; King Manio, 4, of Bahay Pare; Jay-R Sagum, 13, Bahay Pare; and Juance Caysio, 10, a resident of Barangay Bahay Pare.
Those patients confined at San Luis District Hospital were Emily Mendez, 24; Lady Diana Lyn, 17; Trisha Cunanan, 9; and Roselyn Cunanan, all residents of Barangay Bahay Pare.
Manalo, meanwhile, clarified that some of these patients have already recovered.
“May report tayo na yung iba sa mga pasyente ay nakauwi na,” he said.
