LP stalwart: Roxas ok as ‘chief troubleshooter’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Liberal Party (LP) stalwart Mayor Oscar Rodriguez on Monday said former Senator Mar Roxas is the best person to be President Benigno Aquino III’s “chief troubleshooter.”
President Aquino’s choice of Roxas recently caused uproar in political circles, which branded his choice as “in conflict with the duties of Vice President Jejomar Binay,” who they said should be the chief troubleshooter.
“Parang ginamit lang iyan na salita [chief troubleshooter] to emphasize how important and close Mar Roxas is to the President. As far as that matter is concerned, talagang very close siya with the President,” said Rodriguez.
He added President Aquino really trusts Mar Roxas.
Rodriguez said he sees no conflict with the role Binay plays in the Cabinet.
“Walang conflict iyun dahil si Vice President Binay ang hawak ay housing. As a troubleshooter, lahat ng aspeto ng governance ay puwede siyang [Roxas] kunan ng advice, pumunta doon o i-patch-up iyan. Wala naming direct mandate,” he said.
