Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers Wine
Les Cazetiers is a Premier Cru vineyard of the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation in the Cote de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. As such, wines made exclusively from grapes grown in the vineyard may claim the title Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru, and include the Les Cazetiers name as part of the appellation title on labels.
All Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru wines are red and made from Pinot Noir grapes. They are produced from about 200 acres (80 hectares) of Premier Cru land, divided up into twenty-six individual sites (or climats), of which Les Cazetiers is one.
Les Cazetiers is among the highest Premier Cru sites in Gevrey-Chambertin, and indeed the whole of Burgundy, its highest edge reaching 1185ft (371m). Its neighbor Combe aux Moine takes the title for highest Premier Cru. Located just to the west of Gevrey-Chambertin village, the climat sits on the upper south-facing slopes of the Cote d’Or escarpment overlooking the village, and the swathe of village vineyards below.
