Lawmaker leads inauguration of classrooms in Mexico town

MEXICO –- Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr. (Third district, Pampanga) led the inauguration of the newly constructed two-storey classroom building at Gerry Rodriguez High School in Barangay Divisoria here on Friday.
Gonzales was accompanied by Board Member Trina Dizon, Vice Mayor Roy Manalastas and councilors Rex Calma and Ruding Gonzales during the inauguration of the school building which was preceded by and thanksgiving mass and a short program organized by the community.
Dizon lauded Gonzales for implementing the project stating that the school is a new addition to the landscape of the agricultural village and will improve the services of the school.
“This school building is something that the community should take care and be proud of. More students from neighboring villages will now be able to go to school here instead of going to the more urbanized Barangay San Jose Malino for schooling,” Dizon said.
The school facility was personally designed by Gonzales, who is a licensed civil engineer, following the Zen-type design making the building blend with its surroundings.
The building has six newly-furbished classrooms. The ground floor of the building serves as a faculty room and library.
Vice Mayor Manalastas said Gonzales has indeed held through to his mission of bringing legacy projects to the town. He added that Barangay Divisoria will be forever grateful to the congressman for his help.
Gonzales vowed to provide another school building for the high school and a covered court for the barangay. He said that the projects will be implemented within the next five years subject to availability of funds.
“I always believed that helping a community through impact projects is the best way to make the people feel the benefits of public service,” the solon said.
“I also adhere to the adage that when a person opens a school door he also closes a prison. I do hope that this new facility will help our teachers here in further shaping the minds of the students for the better,” he added.
