Lawmaker: ‘Time’s short when serving people’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Representative Aurelio Gonzales Jr. (3rd district, Pampanga) said Thursday that he finds his first term and his next two years as public servant “too short” especially when addressing the needs of people.
Celebrating his 49th birthday at his district office in Barangay Sindalan, which was swamped by thousands of his supporters and beneficiaries, Gonzales said he was hoping he would be given another chance — another term by 2013 — to continue his core advocacies in agriculture, health, education and development.
“If you look at it, five years is too short when you are committed to serve people. Another five years is similarly and seemingly short when you want to serve all sectors which are in dire need of assistance and want a better life,” said Gonzales.
The lawmaker has thousands of scholars in all levels of schooling, hundreds of farmer beneficiaries and other communities, including senior citizens in his ongoing and future programs.
On top of these are his achievements in bringing back Bacolor in the map and pushing for the elevation of the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University to its current academic status.
“Well, for the next two years in this year, I would continue what we have started and hopefully initiate more beneficial programs and projects for the poor and everyone who longs for a better life. I am hoping too, that we could get another chance to serve our constituents since there is so much to do for them and the Third District,” he added.
Gonzales thanked his family, siblings, officials, students and common folk who graced his natal day.
“I could not ask God for more because He has given me so much. And I wish to thank everyone who have always supported me,” concluded Gonzales.
