Laus meets with UK mayor for possible tie-ups

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Third district Board Member Monina Laus met with Luton Mayor Tom Shaw to discuss possible partnerships with the Provincial Government and the United Kingdom town.
The meeting is part of the board member’s weeklong official trip to the United Kingdom to meet with Kapampangan expatriates. aa
The visit was aimed at forging ties with the Kapampangan communities in the United Kingdom with the Provincial Government of Pampanga.
Laus, in a phone interview, said the meeting with Shaw was very cordial and that the mayor entertained her visit with hospitality.
Laus said the meeting discussed the state of Kapampangans and other Filipinos working in the town.
She said her meeting with Kapampangan expatriates featured talks on how to improve Provincial Government services through the province’s Pampanga Action Center for OFW Concerns (Pacoc).
She also said that her meetings with kabalen overseas Filipino workers featured concerns on improving communication and institutionalization of possible programs for their dependents in the country.
“It was a very enlightening visit and I have learned a lot of the many success stories of Kapampangans in the UK from our fellow kabalens who met us during the visit,” Laus said.
Laus added that she presented to Shaw a possible tie-up for the exchange of good government practices that could be replicated by both governments. Laus said she will be coming up with a formal report of her visit as soon as she returns to the Philippines today. The report will be presented to the Pampanga Provincial Board.
