Kris: Noy is now the outspoken Aquino
PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III is now the most outspoken member of the Aquino clan, his celebrity sister Kris Aquino said.
In an interview during her mother’s third death anniversary on Wednesday, the younger Aquino discussed how things have changed on her and her brother since the late President Corazon “Cory” Aquino died in 2009.

“Times have really changed in three years. If they need someone to speak on less controversial matters, they ask me to speak. So, I said: Nice, I am now the good girl and I am now the quiet Aquino. I’m so happy,” she said in Filipino.
Dubbed Queen of All Media and Philippine Queen of Talk, Kris Aquino is famous for her controversial statements and antics. She is known for her candid nature that always put her on the spotlight.
“The President is now the most outspoken in the family,” she added.
The Chief Executive became controversial last week after he criticized ABS-CBN news anchor Noli de Castro during the 25th anniversary of the latter’s primetime news program TV Patrol.
Aquino used the occasion to attack de Castro, who allegedly throws “baseless accusations” against his administration.
The President said many of the problems he faced were inherited from the previous administration of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and de Castro as Vice President.
This was not the first time for him, as Aquino has also criticized other news organizations critical to his administration in the past.
Despite issue on De Castro, the President’s spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said Aquino will remain to be straightforward in his speeches, especially if he thinks it is the proper thing to say.
“You can expect the President to be always frank in his statements. He will always be forthright of what he thinks is proper what he thinks is not. Well, the media would always want to invite the head of the country to your occasion,” Lacierda said.
Kris Aquino, meanwhile, believed that her brother has been doing a great job in running the country, adding that their parents would be proud of the 51-year-old bachelor President.
She said not only President Aquino will continue the legacy of their mother but his four sisters as well.
Kris said she has turned over four classrooms to her sister Pinky located in Muntinlupa and other areas in Metro Manila.
She also said that she is providing help to Philippine Children’s Medical Center. “That’s my own initiative to help,” she said.
The President led the Aquino and Cojuangco clans in commemorating the third death anniversary of Cory was laid next to the grave of her martyred husband, late senator Benigno Aquino Jr., at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque on Wednesday.
The President joined his sisters Kris, Pinky, Ballsy and Viel and their respective families and some 50 of their closest family and friends in a mass for the late President, which was officiated by Fr. Catalino Arevalo, SJ.
President Aquino’s official family represented by Health Secretary Enrique Ona, Energy Secretary Jose Almendras, Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman, Transportation and Communication Secretary Manuel Roxas II, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario, and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin were also present for the holy mass.
