Koreans to build classroom at Northville 15

ANGELES CITY — Residents of Northville 15 in Barangay Cutud here will have their own public high school building donated by a group of Korean nationals.
City officials led Monday’s groundbreaking ceremony of the soon-to-be constructed Northville 15-Good People International High School.
The project will be funded by the Good People International Philippines (GPIP), a Korean organization based in the Metro-Clark area.
The construction will commence next month and it will include a 15-room classroom, one-storey building and a covered court.
Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan expressed appreciation and lauded the GPIP for choosing Angeles City as one of their recipients for their community project, which include the construction of public school buildings in the Philippines.
“Our Korean friends deserve to be commended for their efforts to assist us in providing better and conducive learning institution to our indigent students in our city,” Pamintuan said.
The mayor added the project will even boost his administration’s program on education, saying Angeles City will soon have a community college that will be constructed within the Agyu Tamu Sports Complex in Barangay Pampang here.
During the groundbreaking rites, Pamintuan was accompanied by Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting; former Senator Richard Gordon, chairman and chief executive officer of the Philippine Red Cross; and Kim Chang Myung, chairman of GPIP.
Gordon said the construction of a public high school in Northville 15 is a good undertaking since it will benefit hundreds of youth in the said resettlement area.
“Programs and projects on education should always be prioritized as the national government needs all the assistance it could get not only from the local government units (LGUs) more so from private and international organizations like the GPIP,” Gordon said.
The former senator said that PNRC is also assisting the GPIP in the realization of their school construction project in Angeles City.
Chang Myung said the GPIP will continuously strive to reach out those who are in need of assistance.
Other officials who graced the event were city councilors Edu Pamintuan, Jericho Aguas, and Joseph Alfie Bonifacio, as well as Dr. Victoria Aguas, Division of City Schools Superintendent, among others.
