Improving medical facilities
Last Thursday, Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda spearheaded the inauguration and blessing of the new P5-million operating complex at the Romana Pangan District Hospital (RPDH) in Barangay San Jose, Floridablanca, Pampanga. It is another milestone in the lives and health of Kapampangans.

The medical complex has two operating rooms–a recovery room, ophthalmology room, nurse stations, doctors’ lounge and cleaning room. With its new facilities, what more can we ask for? I am sure they are of great help to ailing Kapampangans who will be serviced by this provincial government’s medical institution. Isa lang po yan sa mga serbisyong Nanay on health.

Governor Pineda has stressed that the new improvements at the district hospital compound are part of the provincial capitol’s commitment to bringing the services of the government especially to the marginalized sectors in the province. Health of the Kapampangans is one of the top priorities of the governor. She never gets tired of providing for the welfare of her constituents.

The project was funded by the provincial government of Pampanga being just one of the programs on the rehabilitation of the 11 district hospitals and the main provincial medical center which includes the renovations and upgrading of four Obstetrics-Gynecology units and ward. Government medical institutions need upgrades, too, in line with its continuing medical services that cater especially the needy patients.

Hospitals, under the operation of the Pampanga provincial government are far more improved as compared in the past. They are now modernized and almost fully-equipped with state of the art hospital equipment, facilities and machineries. Gone were the days when hospital mortality is high and the recovery of patients too slow.

A few years back, hospitals and other medical facilities of the province are congested, underequipped and undermanned. Even the supply of basic medicines then was a problem. Some patients have to stay momentarily along corridors due to the lack of sufficient rooms for the sick. Doctors then are not enough to make rounds and treat patients. There were shortages of medical staffs and other employees of hospitals. This are all I witnessed when I visited a relative confined at one of the district hospitals in the province.

The activity was attended by Mayor Eduardo Guerrero, the town of Floridablanca’s local chief executive. He expressed his gratitude to the support of the provincial government to his town especially the sick and poor. Kapampangans are really lucky to have a governor who religiously attends to her constituents’ needs.

Mayor Guerrero likewise added that the people of his town are mostly Philhealth members and that they benefit from their membership when it comes to their medical treatments and attention they get from government hospitals such as the Romana Pangan District Hospital.

He likewise recognized the different programs and projects of Governor Pineda that are now enjoyed and benefitted from by Kapampangans. He lauded the governors’ focus on healthcare to the people. Dr. Antonio Aquino, the medical chief of the said hospital, meanwhile said that they are now ready to deliver the highest quality of medical service to the public. He likewise appreciated the services brought by the Pineda Administration.
