Door-to-door measles immunization campaign started in Pampanga
April 6, 2011
TY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, April 5 — The provincial government, in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH) regional office, started Monday its door-to-door immunization against measles in the province.
The month-long immunization activity is in line with the nationwide campaign of the DOH dubbed as “Ligtas sa Tigdas ang Pinas.”
Governor Lilia Pineda and Committee on Health chairperson Monina Laus facilitated the immunization of a nine-month-old baby, the first to be immunized in the province.
Laus said the program aims to immunize all children aged between nine months and eight years old against measles and give booster doses to those who have already received measles immunization to reduce susceptibility to the disease.
The activity will cover 17 million children nationwide and targets to achieve a measles-free Philippines by 2012, Laus said. (PNA)
