DOH-3 conducts seminar on new licensing system
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—The Department of Health in Central Luzon (DOH 3) has conducted a series of orientations that sought to provide and disseminate information about the agency’s newly-formulated hospital assessment tool (HAT).
Through its Licensing and Regulatory and Enforcement Division (LRED), DOH 3 oriented administrators from different hospitals and health care facilities across the region on the licensing and monitoring processes using HAT.
In these orientations, the currently issued Administrative Orders (AOs) 2011-0020 or the streamlining of licensure and accreditation of hospitals and 2012-0012 or the new classification of hospitals and other health facilities in the Philippines were presented as the basis in the light of the new HAT.
These rules and regulations were intended to make the licensing and accreditation of different health care institutions more organized and client-friendly and to ensure the quality of service rendered by healthcare facilities, and so assuring the safety of both the patients and the personnel.
“This new HAT based from the AOs 2011-0020 and 2012-0012 will simplify the licensing systems and processes, thus making the regulatory schemes more effective and efficient,” Dr. Julie Reyes, LRED’s division head, said.
During the orientations, updates in the procedures and requirements for the licensure of different ancillary services such as clinical laboratory services, pharmacy services and the radiology services, and the new regulations governing the licensure and regulation of dialysis facilities in the Philippines as embodied in AO 2012-0001 were also discussed.
Moreover, some representatives from the Philippine Coalition AgainstTuberculosis (PhilCAT) introduced and gave an overview of the “Hospital TB-DOTS” to encourage every hospital to support them in the TB-Directly Observed Treatment Short implementation.
