Dental health month kicks-off in Pampanga
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The provincial government, together with the Department of Health National Association of Dentist (DHNAD) and Philippine Dental Association (PDA) Pampanga Chapter, led the kick-off ceremony of the celebration of Dental Health Month.
With the theme “Love Your Teeth, Be Orally Fit,” 11 kids from Simple Kids Learning Center of Barangay Sto. Domingo, Lubao were recognized during the flag ceremony for their impressive oral hygiene practices.
Dr. Mary Ann Macaspac, president of DHNAD Pampanga, said since June to December last year these kids underwent tooth brushing drill and were monitored every month.
“These kids showed very good oral hygiene practices. They have perfect temporary teeth because they are fully aware of how to take good care of them,” Macaspac said.
Dr. Jose Sandico, PDA Pampanga chapter president, stressed the importance of this event in educating the public on how to maintain good oral health condition.
“We have series of activities for this month-long celebration consisting of medical mission for the public and seminars for dentists,” stated Sandico.
He added as early as two years old, children should be brought by parents to dentist for proper and regular dental care.
Third District Board Member Monina Laus, chairperson for the committee on health of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, proudly talked about her kids who have perfect sets of teeth and healthy oral condition.
Her advice to parents: “Monitor the eating habits of your children; bring them to dentists and doctors regularly. I know the inconvenience of using dentures and false teeth and we can do something to spare our kids from this trouble.” ●Jenna Lumbang
