Davao, Zambo police officials get new regional assignments

A POLICE official previously assigned to the Davao region assumed responsibility over five Southwestern Luzon provinces as part of the National Police Commission’s (Napolcom) reshuffle.
Police Director Benjamin Florentino, who used to be assigned to Davao, will replace Director Yolanda Lira, who was with Calabarzo
n. For her part, Lira has assumed the post of Regional Director of Napolcom-National Capital Region (NCR) from Director Emilio Salumbides, who retired early this week.
Likewise, Napolcom Zamboanga Peninsula Director Joseph Gonzalo has taken over the post of Planning and Research Service (PRS) Service Chief in the Napolcom Central Office after the recent retirement of its director Lourdes Aniceto.
The reshuffle was announced by the Napolcom, which also announced movements of key officials in its Makati head office after several officials retired. The move was also undertaken to enhance its organizational efficiency.
Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm) Director Macapado Guro has been assigned to the jurisdiction of Zamboanga Peninsula, which was previously been under Gonzalo.
Designated as Acting Regional Directors in their respective regions are Armm Director Joseph Celis and Davao Director Angelito Ravanera.
Other senior officials who were designated as officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Office of the Assistant Regional Director in their respective regions are Davao Chief Administrative Officer Rebecca Paulo and Armm lawyer Esmael Panda.
Lawyer Agnes De Castro was designated as acting chairman of the Armm Police Regional Appellate Board.
At the Commission’s central office, Budget Officer V Ma. Asuncion Barrientos has taken her new post as Financial Service Officer-In-Charge, Office of the Assistant Service Chief. Also designated as Internal Audit Service Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Service Chief is NCR-Regional Appellate Board Chairman Juanita Pontanal.
Director Aileen Arcin will also assume the post as Acting Service Chief, Financial Service upon the scheduled retirement of Director Raquel Ramos on August 25.
The officials’ new assignments became effective on August 15 after Special Order No. 2011-279 directing the re-assignment of four Directors (Director III), four Assistant Directors (Director II) and four Officers-In-Charge were issued, Napolcom Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Eduardo Escueta said.
“The effectivity of the reshuffle took effect last August 15 after they cleared themselves of money and property accountability and winding up of official business in their respective previous offices,” Escueta said.
The Napolcom exercises supervisory powers over the Philippine National Police (PNP).
It has the power to investigate police anomalies and irregularities, administer police entrance and promotional exams, and summarily dismiss erring police officers and personnel. (AH/Sunnex)
