CSF’s ‘transparent governance’ lauded

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The City Government of San Fernando was lauded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its 100 percent compliance to the Full Disclosure Policy (FDP) and treading a straight path of transparent and good governance.
In a letter, DILG Regional Director Florida Dijan, said the City Government led by Mayor Oscar Rodriguez was commended for complying with DILG Memorandum Circulars 2010-83 and 2011-08 for the first quarter of fiscal year 2011 and annual reports as of April 2011.
Dijan said a clean audit report in conformity with the rules of the FDP as mandated under section 90 of Republic Act 10147 or the General Appropriations Act of 2011 was reached by the city.
The City Government, according to Rodriguez, recognizes the importance of clean audit reports on the city’s budgets and finances which are posted at the city’s website, published in newspapers of general circulation, and seen at conspicuous places within the city.
Another example of this “transparency” is the city’s Annual Investment Plan where programs of the City Government are discussed by officials before budget allocation.
City officials have met in Baguio City starting Wednesday for the annual Legislative-Executive Development Council and AIP meet.
“Accountability and transparency in government is part of our Road Map. We ensure that the public knows what we are doing,” Rodriguez said.
The FDP is intended to make the public aware of how much public funds are available for the development of their communities and to what extent the LGU can help them.
It is also aimed at keeping people informed on how public funds are allocated and spent to minimize and hopefully eradicate corruption.
