Council okays P27-million supplemental budget

THE Iloilo City Council has approved Wednesday the Supplemental Budget (SB) No. 4 amounting P27.22 million submitted by Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to fund certain development projects not included in the regular annual budget.
The City Treasurer’s Office said the fund was taken from surplus under special account of the Local Economic Enterprise amounting P23.61 million; 5 percent of traffic violations by the Traffic Management and Transport Regulation Office (TMTRO) amounting P295,000; unappropriated balance of CY 2011 from SB No. 1 amounting P107,492.05; and SB NO. 2 amounting P2.61 million for a total amount of P2.72 million; and late filing of sworn statement at the City Assessor’s Office amounting P600, 000.
Councilor Perla Zulueta, chair of the committee on appropriations, said the amount of P561,000 to be used for the purchase of birthday cakes to senior citizens was deleted from Supplemental Budget No. 4, as the same may be taken from the mayor’s discretionary fund.
The budget covers the terminal leave pay of 9 City Hall employees amounting P1.42 million; P7,255 for the City Health Office; P365,200 for the City Mayor’s Office; P130,000 for city budget office; P415,537 for the City Environment and Natural Resources Office; P50,000 for the City Engineer’s Office; P300,000 for the City Assessor’s Office; P200,000 for coffins for indigent persons; P4 million for Christmas gift-giving to indigent families; P200,000 for titling of central and La Paz markets; P30,000 capital outlay for City Treasurer’s Office; P10 million as partial payment for electricity consumption; P6.12 million as financial assistance to barangay officials at P34,000 each barangay; P140,000 for the City Accountant’s Office; P295,6000 for TMTRO; P200,000 for Iloilo business summit, P100,000 additional fund for Iloilo City charter day celebration, P1.15 million for road concreting at Dungon A Zone 7, P370,000 for development of dirt canal at Barangay Sooc, Arevalo, P500,000 for road concreting at Villalobos, Cuartero Jaro and P14,750 as local disaster risk reduction management fund.
