Capitol reiterates call for workers’ mass registration

APALIT — The Capitol is reiterating its call for local officials in Pampanga to conduct a mass registration of their constituents, including workers in various establishments, in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
Governor Lilia Pineda believes that the commission of heinous crimes could be prevented if everybody in the community, particularly the local leaders, is cautious of their safety.
Pineda also pointed out that the entry of non-local workers in the communities should also be regulated and be consistently monitored by the local government units.
She said those with criminal records in their town of origin must not be allowed to work in the province.
“Kailangan mayroong police clearance ang mga gustong magtrabaho dito sa atin na manggagaling sa mismong bayan na pinanggalingan nila (Those who wanted to work here must have police clearance),” Pineda added.
She also asked local chief executives to make an updated census of all workers in the various establishments a prerequisite in business permit application.
“Kapag walang census huwag munang bigyan ng business permit ng munisipyo (They should not be given business permit if they have no census),” she stated.
The initiative came after the two workers in Apalit town were raped and subsequently killed here.
The victims were identified as Gemma Manalansan and Princess Danan whose ages are believed to be between 18 and 20. Both were residents of Lubao town.
The two were stay-in workers of Sundance, a direct selling shop located in Barangay San Vicente in this town.
It was on March 5 when local authorities found the victims’ bodies, which had indications that they were hit with a hard object.
