Candaba folk hit health officials on dengue issue

CANDABA — Residents here on Wednesday hit employees of the Municipal Health Office (MHO) for alleged lack of action despite increasing number of confirmed dengue cases in the localities.
Earlier, the MHO declared that there were no confirmed dengue cases in the Poblacion area, but its employees said they have recorded cases of fever in barangays Paralaya and San Agustin.
Eduardo Angulo, a resident of Barangay San Agustin this town whose two grandchildren are currently confined at the hospital due to dengue, said the health office failed to provide vital information about dengue.
He also stated that MHO has not been visible in the areas where the number of the dengue patients is reportedly increasing.
“Dapat nga ngayon sila magtrabaho, pero wala kaming nakikita sa kanila. Hindi man nila pinupuntahan ang aming barangay kahit na nababalita na mayroong dengue dito. Mas gusto pa nilang magmukmuk sa kanilang opisina kaysa tingnan kung ano ang pweding gawin sa problema,” another resident pointed out.
Angulo said that should the concerned officials and agency decide to provide assistance, they are willing to cooperate and volunteer their services.
“Bigyan lang nila kami ng gamut kahit kami na mismo ang mag spray sa bawat purok,” Angulo lamented.
As this developed, residents voluntarily conducted a clean-up drive on major streets in the community.
Recently, barangay officials in Paralaya also conducted a fogging activity to get rid of the dengue-carrying mosquitoes after a certain Shiela Joy Capital was also hospitalized due to dengue.
