Board okays P80 million for projects

THE Provincial Board in Negros Oriental approved the request of Governor Roel Degamo for the appropriation of P80 million to fund various projects in the province.
Provincial Board Member Dr. Liland Estacion, in an interview, said the board in a recent session was unanimous in giving their approval to the governor’s request, the bulk of which will be used to purchase heavy equipment units to firm up the province’s pre-disaster preparedness activities.

The heavy equipment will be used to establish engineering mobile units that will be used alternately in each of the three political districts in the province.
In an earlier interview, Capitol Information Officer Adrian Sedillo said the heavy equipment units that the governor is eyeing to buy include bulldozer, road roller, backhoe, grader, water tanker and a trailer.
“The funds will be sourced from 70 percent of the province’s budgetary reserve,” said Sedillo.
He said Republic Act 10121 enacted in May last year authorized the use of calamity funds to finance the conduct of various disaster preparedness activities.
