Baguio police join national regreening movement

THE City Government’s campaign to preserve and take care of its natural resources is strongly supported by the Baguio City Police Office headed by City Director Sr. Supt. David Lacdan.
Personnel of the police stations participated in tree planting activities conducted in the different barangays in Baguio City in celebration of the Philippine Environment Month.
Under the project “Plant a Million Trees” and National Regreening Program initiated by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, in coordination with the City Environment Protection Management Office, the BCPO joined the other participants at Victoria Village, Quezon Hill on June 22 in the tree planting activity.
Other simultaneous tree planting activities were conducted June 23 to 25 at Fairview Barangay, Loakan, Apugan and Camp 7 Elementary School.
Over 500 pine tree saplings and assorted fruit seedlings like guava, black berry, ipil-ipil, agoho and coffee were planted.
Station 10 personnel planted saplings also at the surrounding of the police station.
On June 28, 200 pine tree saplings were planted at Wright Park, Lualhati Barangay. Last July 2, another tree planting activity was conducted at Dominican, Mirador, Baguio City.
The cooperation of the barangay officials and their constituents, the city government and other line agencies and the BCPO was a very important tool in the preservation of the beauty and richness of the natural resources here in Cordillera particularly in Baguio.
“We are pro-environment because we believe we will be able to prevent calamities like erosion during typhoons and safeguard the people who live there. We can also bring back the beauty and cooler climate the people of Baguio have long been enjoying. Trees make our city special and we have been known for this. The effort of our city officials and other line agencies prove these projects can be successful if we all work together towards a better Baguio,” Lacdan stressed.
