AUF radio station bags 3rd international award
ANGELES CITY — The community radio station DWAU FM 104.1 of Angeles University Foundation (AUF) has bagged the Silver Microphone Award from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System.
Radio station director Ron Nethercutt said they won the award for three straight years.
The IBS is an international organization with a worldwide membership of over 1,000 non-profit education affiliated radio stations and webcasters.
Founded in 1940, the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System’s headquarters is in New Windsor, New York with its legal office in Washington, DC, and frequently represents its members with broadcast regulations, copyright issues, and litigation.
DWAU FM 104.1 became a member of the IBS in 2009 and received its Silver Microphone Award in 2011 and 2012.
“I’m extremely for DWAU FM 104.1 to be a ‘triple-peat’ recipient winner,” said Nethercutt.
Criteria for the award include management, accreditation, educational programming, engineering, production facilities, public affairs, and training.
DWAU FM 104.1 went on the air in August 2004 to serve as another public service arm of AUF aside from being the laboratory of Communication, and Electronics and Communication Engineering students.
In keeping with its noble objectives, the station’s line-up recently added news by the British Broadcasting Corporation at five minutes before each hour, and news by the Voice of America at the bottom of the hour.
National and local news are carried at the top of the hour.
Broadcast schedule includes international, national, and locally produced programs of interest for both the intellect and entertainment.
“Our motto says it best, at DWAU FM 104.1 we give you more than just music,” Nethercutt said.
