Artists launch 1st ever ‘The Film Academy of Pampanga’

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo met with members of the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC) during its emergency meeting held over the weekend at the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) regional office here.
The main agenda of the meeting was the presentation by RDCC members of the effects and damages brought about by Typhoon Pedring, as well as preparations being done by each member on the onslaught of Typhoon Quiel to different provinces and cities in the region.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Central Luzon Director Florida Dijan discussed the actions taken by the agency to include, among others, the activation of the DILG Regional Disaster Information Coordinating Center, issuance of advisories to all local chief executives through DILG Provincial Directors and MLGOOs/CLGOOs, particularly on the compliance to the Calamity Response Protocols embodied in a memorandum issued on August 3, 2010 and submission of “Red Flag Reports” to SILG.
She also cited the local government unit disaster preparedness as the agency’s main concern to reduce the effects of this kind of disaster in terms of damages to lives and properties.
OCD Regional Director Josefina Timoteo, meanwhile, stressed the need to capacitate both the local chief executives and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Councils, being the primary responders in the local government units.
Among the hardly hit provinces by Typhoon Pedring in the region are Aurora, Bulacan and Pampanga, based on the report rendered by Timoteo.
During the meeting, Secretary Robredo coordinated with the local chief executives in Central Luzon to augment the existing rubber boats and other rescue assets to the flood-stricken areas in the region.
He also tasked Colonel Gregorio Catapang and General Jessie Dellosa of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, as well as Philippine National Police-Central Luzon Regional Director Edgardo Ladao to deploy the necessary equipment to affected local government units.
The RDCC is being chaired by the OCD and vice-chaired by the DILG with several agencies like the National Economic and Development Authority, Social Welfare department, police, and military, among others, as members.
