Angeles City stages ‘Sayaw Pinoy’ at Marquee Mall

ANGELES CITY — In cooperation with the National Center for Culture and Arts (NCCA), the City Government recently staged “Sayaw Pinoy 2011,” a touring dance festival, at Marquee Mall.
Annually, the NCCA, through its National Committee on Dance, stages “Sayaw Pinoy” to showcase the best of the Filipino talent in this colorful art form.
Angeles City has been chosen as one of the host localities for this year.
With this opportunity, the Angeleños were treated to a dance concert, which includes folk dance, ballet, modern and even dance sport.
“Sayaw Pinoy 2011″ was topbilled by multi-awarded ballet dancer, teacher and choreographer Shirley Halili-Cruz, Sining Bulakan, hip-hop group “Next to Innocence,” Sinukwan Performing Arts and performances from top dance groups in Angeles City.
Another highlight of the event is a dance number from a duo who flew in from Bangkok, Thailand.
Sayaw Pinoy, which is also seen as a training vehicle for those who wish to further hone their talent, is scheduled to tour 25 localities during the month of February, which incidentally is the national arts month. (Reynaldo G. Navales)
