8 robbers arrested in Angeles City
ANGELES CITY – Police authorities here on Saturday collared members of the notorious “Burnok Group,” allegedly involved in the series of robbery incidents in Central Luzon, in a rob try in Barangay Balibago.
The eight suspects were identified as Mark Anthony Elizalde alias “Jason”; Joshua Luntao alias “Buggy”; Solomon Diaz alias “Mon”; Abraham Desaca alias “Russel”; Cesar Baldonado; Cesar Baldonado Jr.; Jonas Alegria; and, Ronnie Morneo alias “Burnok,” believed to be the leader of the group.
The “Burnok Group” was also allegedly involved in gun-for-hire operations, according to police.
The group was neutralized by joint elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Regional Office 3, Pampanga Criminal Investigation Team and Angeles City Police.
Recovered from the suspects were four firearms, two grenades, one rifle grenade, bladed weapons and several cellphones.
According to CIDG Director Chief Supt. Francisco Uyami the robbers were behind the double homicide case in Mariveles, Bataan last July 14, 2012 and in the frustrated homicide case of ABS-CBN technical director Crisologo Pangan last February 25, 2012.
Charges of robbery with frustrated homicide and charges for violation of the election gun ban was filed against the suspects.•-Marna Dagumboy-Del Rosario
