2,000 benefit from medical mission
ANGELES CITY — Some 2,000 indigent Angeleños were given free medical assistance and dental services during a medical and dental mission over the weekend.
Korean doctors and the Nepomuceno family sponsored the mission held at the Don Mariano Elementary School in Barangay Cutcut here.
The medical and dental mission is a joint project of the Korean Open Doctors Society, the Angeles City Medical Society, barangay chairwoman Cecile Nepomuceno, former Liga ng mga Barangay president Robin Nepomuceno, former congressman and mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno and City Councilor lawyer Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno.
Atty. Nepomuceno said Korean and Filipino doctors assisted by Barangay Health Workers attended to the needs of patients, who did not only receive free check-up and services but also medicines.
Nepomuceno said they have also set up Radiology, ENT and Internal Medicine room.
“It’s probably the first time that a medical and dental mission such as this has been done using state-of-the-art equipment, not to mention competent physicians coming from Korea and our equally well-trained doctors,” Nepomuceno said.
Aside from modern medicinal treatment, he said a combination of ancient healing such as acupuncture and herbal medicines were also used to treat patients with stroke, back pains and stress.
Nepomuceno lauded Korean and Filipino doctors for assisting their indigent constituents, saying their family has always believed in the saying “Health is Wealth.” (Chris Navarro)
