Lady government officials get award from Capitol
March 23, 2011
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Eighty government officials on Tuesday received plaques of recognition from Gov. Lilia Pineda and Provincial Board member Trina Dizon as part of this year’s celebration of the National Women’s Month.
The awarding dubbed as “Recognizing the Role of Women in Government” was conducted to give due credit to government officials who have been striving for the empowerment of the women sector through their government service. The awarding was part of the Provincial Government’s own celebration of the Women’s Month.
The awardees were given plaques of recognition and bouquet of flowers. Some 39 village chiefs, 27 Municipal Council members, and three vice-mayors were given recognition during the event. Mayors Yolanda Pineda (Sta. Rita), Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab (Lubao), Josefina Leoncio (Sasmuan), Annette Balgan (Macabebe) and Leonora Wong (San Simon) have received awards.
Other awardees include Board Members Fritize-David Dizon, Monina Laus and Dizon. A posthumous award was also given for the late Board Member Edna David. Alliance of Laborers and Employees (ALE) Rep. Catalina Bagasina also received a plaque of recognition for her government service in the national level.
Dizon said the awards were meant to inspire the government officials to further improve their service to their constituents and provide better programs for the empowerment of women.
“The event is our way of giving credit to the contribution of women in public service. We believe that the awards will make them feel proud of what they do,” Dizon said, stressing that her committee is also advocating for better social services for women.
